Recently, we've been experiencing a long delay of 457 visa processing, being forced to submit a kind of mandatory submission of "Genuine Position Criteria". We were told that some 457 case officers requested further and more detailed information why one of the world-class hotel needs to hire chefs (Hilton hotel). We also had been asked the same request from the department when our client (one of the most prestigious restaurant in Sydney where the kitchen is lead by a celebrity chef) wanted to hire an excellent chef under 457 visa. We had submitted all relevant documents to support our claims with numerous pictures of the premise before they had asked, but not considering our submission, the case officer seemed to send a mandatory letter that urged to send more information, which was totally unprofessional.
Please have a look the Australian's article that criticised the Department of immigration's attitude towards their valued customers. What we don't understand is how could it possible the department has been ranked top customer satisfaction government agencies? If you want to talk to a officer at the department, you should wait at least an hour on the phone and finally meet someone who doesn't have a professional knowledge of Australian immigration laws.
If you lodge your visa application offshore, they will give you immediate refusal without asking further information requests that has been frequently used on 457 visa assessment. All we can do is just wish a luck, my case is allocated to a very kind and considerable case officer.
