If you have a long-term relationship with your partner(Spouse or de facto relationship), you're eligible to apply for a permanent partner visa directly, instead of provisional visa that would require 2 years "honeymoon period" before your permanent partner visa is automatically being allocated to a case officer. We've got requests in relation to the definition of long-term relationship in terms of Australian immigration. Here's the definition (applies "spouse" or "de facto relationship")

For the purposes of the Migration Regulations, regulation 1.03 defines the term long-term partner relationship to have the meaning set out in regulation 1.03 unless there is a contrary intention.

  - ​if there is a dependent child (other than a step-child) of both the applicant and the other person - for at least 2 years; or

  - in any other case - for at least 3 years.
