New updates to the State nominated subclass 190 Skilled nominated visa

NSW has just released their skilled occupation list for 2017-2018 under the subclass 190 skilled Nominated Visa program. It was a relief to see that they have decided to continue to select and invite the occupations in the 2016-2017 list.

However, general Skilled Migration becomes harder and uncertain these days. You often find people with enough points and waiting forever to be invited. This is due to the overwhelming number of people applying under this category.

The Subclass 190 applicants gets invited by different rounds each month. There are usually 1-2 rounds each month and they would invite a certain number of people. The rest would have to wait for the next round. They would invite the ones with the highest points first.

For popular occupations such as being an accountant, if your EOI is relatively low, you could be waiting forever and not have an invitation because you would stay in the pool beneath the invitation line.

If skilled migration had been the hope for you, please don't put all your eggs in one basket because of the uncertainty behind the nature of these skilled migration programs.
