Resident Return visa (subclass 155/157)
- Overview
- If you have obtained permanent residence in Australia, it does not mean that you do not have to apply for visa extensions anymore. Permanent Residents usually have a 5-year travel facility on your visa. After expiry, you will need to renew this travel right via the resident return visa if you wish to travel from Australia.
If you stay in Australia and never leaves this country, you won't have to worry about renewing your travel rights at all. However, that may not be the realistic case since most immigrants have strong attachments in their home countries.
It is very important to renew your resident return visa if you are travelling overseas because without it being renewed, you may not be able to return to Australia.
